Title I Program

Kathy Harper, Title I Coordinator
Laura Carpenetti, Title I Secretary

Title I is a Federal program whose purpose is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and to reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

Cambridge City Schools Title I funds are used to support the following programs at all three of the district's elementary schools:

  • Reading Recovery, which provides one-on-one intensive intervention for identified first grade readers;
  • Individual and small group intervention, which is provided through in-class and pull-out sessions;
  • Summer Programs, which provide summer assistance for K-8 students needing reading and math intervention;
  • Developmental Kindergarten, which  provides smaller class size and more individualized attention for identified students.  DK programs are housed at all three of the district elementary buildings; and
  • Staff Professional Development, which includes OSU Literacy Collaborative training for the district Literacy Coordinators, who provide support for the K-5 staff, Reading Recovery training for our Reading Recovery Teachers, and conference attendance for the K-2 staff .
